Presentation of the Domain

Domaine Champeau is a family estate that has been perpetuating the art of producing exceptional wines in the famous Pouilly Fumé appellation for several generations.

Located in the Loire wine region, this estate stands out for its respect for the environment and the preservation of its terroirs.
By adopting sustainable vine cultivation, it promotes practices that respect flora and fauna while enhancing the potential of its unique terroirs.

Terroir and Climate

The terroir of Domaine Champeau is composed of an exceptional mixture of clay-limestone soils, flint clays and Portlandian limestone.

These rich and varied soils bring a remarkable typicity to each vintage, marking the wines with a beautiful minerality and a unique aromatic complexity.

The region's semi-continental climate, marked by cold winters and hot summers, allows for optimal ripening of the grapes while maintaining a pleasant freshness.

Vinification and Aging

This Pouilly Fumé is made from grapes harvested mechanically.

After harvesting, the grapes are gently pressed using a pneumatic press.
This is followed by settling and yeasting, allowing the alcoholic fermentation to begin.

The wine is then aged on lees for 6 months in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, giving the wine both structure and roundness.

Before bottling, careful filtration is carried out, guaranteeing a wine of great purity.

The Tasting

  • Eye : This Pouilly Fumé has a pale yellow color with silver highlights and a dazzling shine.
  • Nose : The initial nose is intense, revealing aromas of tropical fruits, citrus, and grapefruit. After aeration, sunnier notes of mandarin and orange peel appear, supported by a subtle minerality.
  • Palate : The attack is fresh and invigorating. It reveals a beautiful roundness, supported by exotic aromas of juicy nectarine. The finish is slightly bitter, offering a saline length and persistent citrus aromas.

Why Choose This Cuvée?

  • An authentic expression of Sauvignon Blanc : This Pouilly Fumé is a shining example of what this grape variety can offer.
  • Marked minerality : The richness of the soil gives this vintage a pronounced mineral dimension, ideal for lovers of terroir wines.
  • Balanced wine : Between freshness, fruitiness and an enveloping texture, this vintage offers a harmonious taste experience.
  • Aging on lees : Aging for 6 months on lees in stainless steel vats brings a beautiful complexity and roundness on the palate.

Tasting Tips

To fully appreciate Domaine Champeau's Pouilly Fumé, it is recommended to serve it chilled, between 10 and 12°C.
This wine pairs perfectly with delicate dishes such as grilled shrimp, scallop carpaccio with lemon caviar or oysters au gratin with parmesan .

It can be enjoyed now, but its beautiful structure also allows it to be kept for 3 to 5 years to develop even more complexity.
